Hino 700 Series range expands

Hino Australia has added a long-wheelbase variant of its heavy-duty 700 Series FS 2848 to its range, with the new 6x4 model available now through the brand's Australian dealer network.

According to Hino Australia's Manager of Product Strategy, Daniel Petrovski, the new FS 2848 AMT AIR 6267 will satisfy pent-up customer demand in a number of key applications.

"We have developed this truck at the specific request of our customers – it is suitable for any number of applications from general farm duties or cattle trucks to a 14-pallet rigid freight truck or a flat tray with a rear-mounted crane," he said.

The truck is powered by Hino's E13C 12.9-litre six-cylinder turbo-diesel, good for a claimed 480hp (353kW) and 2157Nm, with the urge fed to the rear axles via ZF's 'TraXon 2441TO' 16-speed automated manual transmission.

"It is the overdrive version and includes the standard fitment of the ZF transmission intarder that provides up to 3200Nm of auxiliary braking," said Petrovski.

The new variant rides on a combination of long taper leaf suspension on the steer axle and Hendrickson HAS 460 air suspension on the drive axles.

The newcomer also features an ISRI 6960/870 air suspension seat, Hino's recently introduced smart multimedia system, a reversing camera, antilock brakes, driver airbag, front underrun protection, an ECE-R29-compliant cab and electric side mirrors.

"With the availability of a factory-built long wheelbase FS 2848 variant, the 700 Series is now a viable solution for customers seeking a higher horse-power long-wheelbase rigid truck," concluded Mr Petrovski.
