The most comprehensive active safety package from a Japanese manufacturer in the medium-duty market – that's how Hino describes its new 500 Series standard cab range.
As a result, the already on-sale vehicle will headline the Hino stand at this year's Brisbane Truck Show.
Hino says the standard safety package includes a pre-collision system that combines autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and safety eye (SE), along with adaptive cruise control and a lane departure warning.
In another first for a Japanese brand in the segment, the Hino 500 standard cab also uses vehicle stability control.

Hino's brand general manager, Bill Gillespie, says initial interest has been strong with the range, which extends to 54 variants.
"The new 500 Series standard cab is significant both for ourselves and the market here, as it sets benchmarks for the medium-duty sector not only in safety but also in comfort, technology, operational efficiency and its green credentials," Gillespie says.
Hino will also be displaying its 500 Series wide cab, along with the 300 Series 817 4x4.
The company says the 817 beat its sales targets by 50 per cent last year – it's first full year of sales – because it is the only 7500kg GVM 4x4 truck in Australia with stability control, driver and passenger airbags, cruise control and reversing camera as standard.
The 700 Series heavy-duty range will be represented by the SH 2045 which tows the Hino Sports Deck display trailer, a popular attraction at the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.
The biennial Brisbane Truck Show will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from May 16 to 19.
