Hino's 500 Series Wide Cabs strike a chord

The launch of the brand's new medium-duty and heavy-duty models receives a warm welcome, reports Hino Australia
It's been three months since the launch of Hino's new 500 Series Wide Cab range, and the brand reports interest in the new offerings has been exceptionally strong.
Hino Australia General Manager of Brand and Franchise Development, Bill Gillespie, says the overhauled models have struck a chord with Australian customers.
"Since its launch in March, we have experienced a 53 per cent increase in orders across the medium-duty category and have delivered an eight per cent increase on last year's retail deliveries," he said.
"To date, over 230 units of the new 500 Series Wide Cab trucks have been sold.
"This exceptional adoption means the Wide Cab trucks now account for over 66 per cent of the Hino medium-duty category orders with the FG and FL models more than doubling their intake when compared with 2016.
"In March we experienced record orders of medium duty trucks which exceeded our internal targets and we are confident that we will meet the targets set for the year.
"With our increased presence at the Truck Show, including a range of 500 Series Wide Cabs, we expect interest and orders to remain at high levels."

The new range made a very positive impression at its national media launch, where motoring press sampled the new models in both town and country.

While externally the range sports a new look with new grilles and improved footsteps, hundreds of improvements have been made throughout the vehicles.
A heavily reworked line-up of eight and nine-litre engines power the range and meet Euro 5 emissions compliance, while the trucks were the first to adopt vehicle stability control in the medium-duty segment. The trucks also come with a reversing camera with microphone and night vision.
A selection of Hino 500 Series Wide Cab models will be on display at the Hino stand at this week's Brisbane Truck Show, which gets underway at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday, May 25.
