Hino Australia recently announced the winner of its ‘Win Back a Truckload’ promotion, with the proprietors of Sydney firm FPP Industries Pty Ltd, Rodney Swil (pictured, left) and Robert Hanepen (pictured, right), the lucky entry first drawn out of the barrel.
The pair was delighted to receive a cheque from Hino reimbursing them for the $57,762.27 they paid for their new 300 Series 716 Automatic Tipper, which they use as a supplier and installer of FiltaPave Sustainable Pavements.
The pavement itself is a unique porous material used for footpaths, cycleways and carparks, among other applications, made from graded aggregate and recycled rubber granules bonded with FiltaPave’s proprietary binder. An innovative underdrain of recycled crushed concrete granules offers water capture and storage benefits.
Apart from its substantial use of recycled materials, the pavement is also said to provide good grip and improved water management and storage, while also delivering low on-going maintenance costs. Because the product has a degree of flexibility, it also reduces the usual trip hazards associated with growing tree roots cracking traditional pavement.
Swil said the urban environment in which the company operates made the Hino 300 Series a logical choice.
“The automatic transmission helps out a lot in Sydney’s traffic, and together with the reversing camera it’s a really big plus for city driving,” he said.
Needless to say, winning the competition came as a welcome surprise.
“I was elated,” said Swil.
“I’ve never won anything in my life so it was very good news.”
