Hino Australia has announced its two display vehicles for the 2024 Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authority Council (AFAC) conference, which will run from September 3 to 6 at Sydney’s International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The highlight will be a 500 Series Wide Cab FG 1628 crew cab fitted with a bespoke road crash rescue body designed and built by Bell Fire & Rescue, which will be joined by a 700 Series FS 2632 6x4 cab chassis.
Safety and ease of use for firefighters and mechanics were the keys in designing the body for the FG 1628 crew cab, with all equipment powered by either a battery or the truck’s systems with an onboard inverter.
The FG 1628 powertrain produces 280hp (206kW) and 883Nm, mated to an Allison six-speed automatic transmission.
Meanwhile the 700 Series FS 2632 6x4 cab chassis, which supersedes the outgoing 500 Series Wide Cab FM 2632 6x4 model, is the latest generation of Hino chassis and offers Euro 6 compliance and the Hino SmartSafe driver-assist safety package.
It provides a more comfortable cabin environment and easier ingress and egress courtesy of a lower-set cabin while delivering the same levels of power (320hp/235kW) and torque (1275Nm) as its predecessor.
“Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is available across the range of Hino trucks and is of particular interest to our fire and emergency services customers as tankers carrying liquids are particularly vulnerable to rollovers,” said Daniel Petrovski, Manager – Product Strategy for Hino Australia.
VSC continuously monitors the vehicles’ operation and can help prevent an incident in situations such as when a vehicle enters or exits a corner too fast.
Hino-Connect telematics is standard fitment on all 500 and 700 Series vehicles providing real-time performance data, tracking, remote diagnosis of vehicle operation and dedicated Hino-Connect support specialists.
AFAC is Australasia’s largest emergency management conference and exhibition. It is held on rotation around Australia and is returning to Sydney for the first time in seven years.
