Holden will supply Victoria Police with new purpose-built two-door and four-door divisional vans, based on Holden Colorado. The new divisional vans will be deployed over the next two years across the state starting this month February.
The deal includes 250 two-door divisional vans based on the Colorado 4x2. These vehicles are custom designed for Victoria Police to include increased ground clearance to improve vision and create a better vantage point for police to patrol the streets. The new vans feature six airbags in the passenger compartment and custom-designed rear pods.
The rear pod is a fully self-contained, secure two-person transport module and this new model features an additional camera in the custody compartment providing 360-degree monitoring and recording of people in the back, as well as air conditioning for the baddies.
Holden will also be supplying 40 custom 4x4, four-door divisional vans equipped with bull-bars and winches that will be deployed to regional Victoria to provide off-road driving capability.
The divisional vans have a maximum five star Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) rating, with safety features including airbags, stability control and ABS brakes.
“This announcement continues Holden’s long association with Victoria Police, which began over 70 years ago and we are honoured to be able to continue this partnership,” said Michael Filazzola, Executive Director of Sales.
“We’re excited to see the new ‘divvy vans’ out on the road and we’re sure Victorian police officers will enjoy driving them.”
