US heavy vehicle manufacturer International Truck will soon adopt a cutting-edge, next-generation active safety system from Bendix on a select number of its American models.
In what International describes as "a first for the North American commercial vehicle industry", the new Bendix system will build on and combine its Bendix ESP stability control, Wingman Advanced collision mitigation technology and AutoVue Lane Departure Warning system – producing an integrated system that merges the three component technologies of camera, radar and brakes.
The next-gen Bendix system will soon be launched on International's ProStar sleeper models, with ProStar day cabs and LoneStar models following later this year.
According to Bill Kozek, President, Truck and Parts, of International's parent company, Navistar, said the technology will enhance safety significantly.
"We are fortunate to have close partnerships with trusted suppliers like Bendix," he said.
"Through our close collaboration, we're delighted to be first to market with this technology that helps contribute to vehicle safety."
More information on the system will be announced at the Mid-America Trucking Show, due to be held in Louisville, Kentucky, over March 26-28.
