With the conclusion of 2019, Isuzu Australia says it is proud to announce the achievement of 31 consecutive years as Australia’s highest selling truck brand.
Isuzu’s reign at the top of the Australian truck market began back in 1989; that year saw the formation of Isuzu General Motors Limited, which would later become today’s Isuzu Australia Limited.
Isuzu says that since then, the company has remained focused on providing customers with transport solutions that meet many application needs.
Isuzu Trucks finished 2019 as clear leaders, with 22.7 per cent share of the Australian truck market and a total of 8621 units sold.
Isuzu led the way in the light-duty segment, with 4207 units sold for 36.6 per cent share.
In medium duty, Isuzu Trucks again took line honours, finishing the year with 2896 units sold for 39.1 per cent share of the market.
At the heavy end, Isuzu finished the year in third spot, with 1518 units sold for 11.9 per cent share of a hard-fought market segment.
On achieving 31 years of market leadership, IAL Director and Chief Operating Officer Andrew Harbison said: “Off the back of an unprecedented boom in 2018, we continued to strive forward and push our strengths in 2019.
“I’d like to thank and congratulate our tireless dealer network for their unrelenting efforts.
“As always, it’s their hard work and commitment to the Isuzu product and ethos that keeps us top of mind with Australian customers.”
IAL National Sales Manager, Les Spaltman, echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence for the year ahead.
“Last year saw us achieve exciting milestones and developments like our 30-year truck market leadership, and the expansion of the highly popular Ready-to-Work range to include the new Freightpack models,” Mr Spaltman said.
“We’ve performed and capitalised on our strong product offering, even amidst softer market conditions, and I couldn’t be prouder of the entire Isuzu Trucks network.
“We’ve got strong plans in place for 2020, and I’m confident we will have another productive and successful year.
“The competition is stronger than ever, and we believe that’s a great outcome for Australian businesses.
“Our focus, as always, is meeting the needs of those customers, and we’ll continue to supply the very best road transport package, regardless of the vocation or application.”
