Isuzu Australia Limited recently handed over the keys for a new FRR 500 medium-duty truck to Life Education, a non-government organisation that's been a leading early learning provider for children and young people for over 35 years.
The organisation takes its mobile learning centres, complete with iconic mascot Harold the giraffe, on the road to pre-schools, primary schools and secondary schools throughout Australia, thereby promoting a range of positive health messages.
Isuzu Australia Limited has enjoyed a long relationship with Life Education's parent organisation, Variety Club, and the new truck was presented at the latter's recent 2015 Gala Dinner.
"It really doesn't get more important than providing access to engaging, positive education messages for our kids, and we're extremely proud that Isuzu can be part of this," said Isuzu National Fleet Sales Manager, Les Spaltman.
"What's fantastic about Life Education is that they take such an important message on the road to ensure all kids, regardless of their location or background, have the opportunity for a brighter, healthier future.
"In donating the FRR, we're just happy to be able to assist and contribute to such a worthy cause."
Michelle Wood, CEO of Life Education in Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, said the new Isuzu truck would assist the organisation greatly.
"We're extremely grateful for the generosity shown by Isuzu Australia in the gifting of this very important piece of equipment," she said.
"Our mobile learning centres are very large. They weigh almost three-and-a-half tonnes and are up to two-and-a-half by 10 metres in length, so they’re not small.
"Towing and set-up of these units by external transport companies, from school to school within our region, is complex and very costly.
"Having the FRR, which has the combination of power to tow our heavy load, and agility to access our sites smoothly and safely, enables us to reinvest saved towing costs into schools which are in lower socioeconomic regions, allowing more children access to vital health messages – this donation from IAL is making a real difference."
