Isuzu has unveiled a bold vision for future mobility at the recent Japan Mobility Show 2025 which ran from October 30 to November 9, headlined by its multi-fuel engine concept and the global debut of the next-generation Giga heavy-duty prime mover.

The multi-fuel engine (MFE) concept offers a single engine platform adaptable to multiple fuel types, providing operators with flexibility during the transition to low-carbon transport. The approach allows businesses to choose their fuel based on local availability, cost, and their specific sustainability goals.
Isuzu Australia (IAL) chief operating officer, Andrew Harbison, said the technology reflects Isuzu’s pragmatic approach to decarbonisation.
“Isuzu’s multi-fuel engine acknowledges that the path to a low-carbon future will vary by region and requires flexible solutions that leverage existing refuelling infrastructures,” Harbison said.
“For a demanding market like Australia, where reliability and operational range are non-negotiable, this technology offers a compelling potential pathway to reduce emissions without compromising performance.”

The new Giga prime mover made its global debut in Tokyo, previewing aerodynamic improvements, advanced driver ergonomics and integrated systems aimed at boosting efficiency and safety.
Harbison said the reveal marks a significant milestone for Isuzu globally.
“The new Giga’s premiere was a landmark moment and, with the acquisition of UD Trucks now complete, helps to re-position the brand with a compelling heavy-duty offer,” he said.
Isuzu also showcased the futuristic vertical core cycle concept (VCCC), a modular platform designed for adaptable mobility solutions across diverse applications.

IAL chief strategy officer, Kylie Barlin, said the concepts highlight Isuzu’s commitment to innovation.
“Ultimately, ideas such as the vertical core are about offering users unprecedented freedom and adaptable mobility solutions,” Barlin said.
“It’s a fascinating time to be part of the broader mobility space, and it’s great to have Isuzu at the forefront of this thinking.”
Isuzu’s showcase signals a clear roadmap for future heavy-duty transport, with Australian operators watching closely for technologies that balance sustainability with reliability.
