Isuzu techs do Australia proud

A team of Australian Isuzu truck technicians has placed second in the Japanese manufacturer's hotly contested World Technical Competition
Australia has placed second in Isuzu's 2014 World Technical Competition, which was held recently in Tokyo, Japan.
Led by team coach Charlie Gracewood (from the WA, SA and NT Isuzu Australia Limited Service Team) and comprising Jazzmer Ducao from Brisbane Isuzu and Martin Lawson from Dubbo-based dealer Tracserv, the Aussies defeated 11 other nations in the Category A class (for countries with Euro IV or later products) and was second only to Great Britain, while finishing just ahead of third-placed Switzerland.
It's the third consecutive year Australia has finished as runner-up in the prestigious competition, which is more commonly referred to as the 'I-1 Grand Prix'.
The contest sees teams tackle a series of gruelling tests focussing on fields including measurement accuracy, vehicle inspection standards, fault identification, repair ability and theoretical understanding.
According to Isuzu Australia Limited's National Training Manager, David Smith, this year's team represents the cream of the crop from a talented national dealer network.
"These boys are some the best operators in the truck service industry and I know Charlie put them both through a fair bit of training in the lead-up," he said.
"IAL has enjoyed a lot of success over the past few years, winning the I-1 in 2011 and finishing second two years running now.
"The I-1 continues to set the bar in terms of mechanical skills challenges worldwide, so we couldn't be happier with the result.
"I think it gives our customers excellent peace of mind knowing the level of skill our technicians possess, and that their purchase is being extremely well looked after when they come in for a service."
