To help it mark a quarter of century of truck market dominance in this country, Isuzu Australia Limited has bolstered its line-up with three new high-power F Series models and a further five Limited Edition versions.
The ranks of the company’s F Series range have swelled with the addition of three power-packed ‘S’ trucks: the FRD 600-S, FSD 700-S and FSD 850-S. All three are powered by a potent 7.8-litre SiTEC Series III engine said to produce 260hp (191kW) at 2400rpm and 761Nm at 1450rpm, representing a boost of 20.4hp (15kW) and 55Nm over the standard F Series models.
The trio also feature Hendrickson HAS200 airbag suspension and a wider choice of transmissions, says Isuzu.
The FRD 600-S comes with either an Isuzu six-speed manual transmission or an Allison LCT2500 fully automatic transmission. It has a GVM of 11 tonnes and a GCM of 16 tonnes.
The two larger trucks have GVMs of 12 tonnes and 14 tonnes and GCMs of 18 tonnes and 20 tonnes respectively. Buyers of these two models can choose from Isuzu’s six-speed manual or second-generation Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), or the Allison LCT2500 auto.
According to Simon Humphries, Isuzu Australia Limited’s Chief Engineer, the grunty new additions offer broad appeal.
“The new models will appeal to tilt tray operators who often tow a trailer to carry additional cars and need the extra power for the job,” he said.
“Similarly, the additional power will benefit owners who fit full-size van or tautliner bodies with very large frontal areas – these customers may wish for more power to maintain highway speeds in windy conditions.
“The combination of a higher-power engine and either Allison full automatic transmission or Isuzu AMT will appeal to any operator doing a lot of work in metropolitan and urban environments in heavy start/stop traffic,” he added.
Isuzu has also rolled out no fewer than five Limited Edition variants of the new F Series ‘S’ models, comprising the FRD 600-S Long, FRD 600-S Long Premium Auto, FSD 700-S Long, FSD 700-S Long Premium AMT and the FSD 700 / 850 Long Series.
Beyond the benefits of the gruntier engine, these Limited Edition models come with LED daytime running lights in the front bumper, polished Alcoa alloy wheels, Limited Edition badging, truck-specific sat-nav, upgraded internal speakers, and steering wheel controls for the standard Digital Audio Visual Equipment system.
The Limited Edition models will be arriving in Australian dealerships in coming months – see your nearest Isuzu dealer or visit www.isuzu.com.au for more information.
