Iveco Australia recently put a smile on plenty of kids' faces, by getting behind Melbourne's 'Christmas Party for Special Children' on Sunday, December 13.
Held at Melbourne's Moonee Valley Racecourse, the event makes Christmas a little bit brighter for kids who are sick, live with a disability or who have been victims of neglect, with this year's event attended by around 3000 kids and their carers.
Vying for attention alongside the clowns, magicians, rides, face-painting and more were two ACCO trucks – one a modern Iveco 8x4 agitator and one an older International fire engine. The vehicles drew countless kids over the day, giving them a truck driver's perspective from behind the wheel.
The event is going from strength to strength said its Project Manager, Genece Cavanagh.
"During the time the Melbourne party has been running, well over 100,000 have been given the chance to gather and share the magic of the festive season," she said.
"To stage these events takes a lot of planning and coordination, and of course their success heavily relies on the generosity of sponsors. Fortunately we receive strong support from the likes of Iveco and other community-minded organisations every year."
Iveco Marketing Manager, Darren Swenson, said Iveco was extremely pleased to be involved in the 2015 event.
"Seeing the joy on the children's faces makes Iveco's participation in events such as 'Christmas Party for Special Children' an easy decision; it's an extremely worthwhile cause," he said.
"All of the children who attend these parties are battling issues of health and other difficult circumstances – for many they face burdens that should not be placed on them, let alone at such a young age.
"There's nothing better than being able to help provide the children with an escape from their problems."
