IVECO eDaily powers up

Electric version of IVECO’s Daily makes public debut, promises range of up to 300 kilometres

Making its first Australian public appearance at the recent 2023 Brisbane Truck Show was IVECO’s new eDaily, which appeared on the IVECO stand in 72C14E dual-rear-wheel cab/chassis form.

With a very healthy quoted payload of 4000kg and a GVM of 7200kg, the model on display boasts an output of 140kW and 400Nm of torque, along with 111kWh of battery capacity.

Charging options include 11kW AC on-board charging as standard, optional 22kW AC charging or 80kW DC charging, with charge times varying between three and nine hours for the AC formats, and an 80 per cent charge in under 90 minutes for DC charging.

Modular battery system

“The unique opportunity with the IVECO eDaily is the chassis-rail system that we have in our vans, which enables us to have a modular system so you can add more as you need it, and to carry real payload,” said IVECO Australia’s Managing Director, Michael May.

“We think we have one of the best payload potentials in this truck, along with up to 300 kilometres of travel.”

Mr May said the vehicle on show in Brisbane would soon commence a local testing program.

“This vehicle, after the Brisbane Truck Show, will begin its testing locally and we’re excited to dive into this research with our alternative fuel partners, our customers, as well as tertiary institutions, because [the latter] is a critical link to bringing people into our industry, as we start to grow into a new phase of propulsion and energy,” he said.

“It’s part of a project that’s been supported through the commercial sector’s innovation fund [Zero Emissions Vehicle Commercial Sector Innovation Fund], which IVECO secured with the Department of Transport in Victoria for half-a-million dollars, and we look to play a big part in driving the commitment to zero emissions by 2050.”

T-Way to replace Trakker

And while the recently launched IVECO S-Way grabbed top billing at the IVECO stand, alongside the eDaily was an example of the new IVECO T-Way off-road truck.

The new IVECO T-Way replaces the Trakker in the brand's off-road range

“This is our off-road product that takes over from the Trakker range, which has long been a favourite for tough off-road applications like fertiliser spreading and 4x4 mining and exploration,” said Mr May.

The T-Way presented on IVECO’s stand in Brisbane had a 4x4 format, but the truck is also available in 6x6 and 8x4 configurations.

“This products sits at the midway point for IVECO between our highway range and the small Eurocargo 4x4 products that we offer,” explained Mr May. “It shares a lot of the new technologies that we have to experience in the new cab – very advanced adaptive technologies that make our roads safer.

“Under the skin of the T-Way there’s a new dual-speed transmission and hub reduction all round, and together with the S-Way and eDaily, we think it gives a good sense of the breadth that IVECO offers.”
