While some of us might be winding down for the year, it's all systems go at Team Petronas De Rooy Iveco, which is busily making final preparations for not only next month's Dakar Rally, but the Africa Eco Race too.
Team members Anton Van Genugten and Artur Ardavichus will contest South America's Dakar Rally, kicking off from January 6, while Team chief Gerard De Rooy and teammate Wuf Van Ginkel will get to grips with the Africa Eco Race from December 31.
This year's Dakar Rally will see contestants set off from the Peruvian capital of Lima before covering almost 9000 kilometres and 14 stages, taking in Peru, Bolivia and Argentina before finishing in Cordoba.
Kazakh Artur Ardavichus will compete with co-pilot Serge Bruynkens and mechanic Michel Huisman on board his #508 Iveco Powerstar. The newest driver of Team Petronas De Rooy Iveco, Ardavichus made his debut in the Silk Way Rally 2017, where he achieved a commendable fourth place.
Dutch pilot Ton Van Genugten, co-pilot Peter Willemsen and mechanic Bernard der Kinderen will also contest the Dakar rally for Team Petronas De Rooy Iveco in their #509 Powerstar.
The Africa Eco Race will actually officially commence in Monaco, before participants set off from Nador, Morocco, and do battle over 6500 kilometres through Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal before crossing the finish line in Dakar. Gerard De Rooy will compete on his #400 Powerstar with his experienced co-pilot Moi Torrallardona and the technical support of mechanic Darek Rodewald.
Wuf Van Ginkel, with co-pilot Erik Kofman and mechanic Bert van Donkelaar, will compete in the #403 Powerstar.
Iveco has supplied the team with four rally-kitted Powerstar trucks to tackle these events, each powered by Iveco Cursor 13-litre engines tuned to produce up to 1000hp.
