The New Daily fought off strong competition from the likes of Fiat, Mercedes-Benz and Renault/Opel to claim the title, which has been held each year since 1992.
Iveco says the third generation of its Daily LCV platform delivers a fuel saving of 5.5 per cent over its predecessor, along with reduced total cost of ownership expenses, enhanced manoeuvrability and greater comfort. The LCV also features new suspension front and rear and is available in a wide range of van, cab/chassis and minibus formats. All up over 80 per cent of the components in the New Daily have been redesigned, says Iveco.
With GVMs ranging between 2.8 to 7 tonnes, the New Daily is available in Europe in 13 body versions in 280 different sizes, with a choice of two engines, five gearboxes, two front suspensions, four rear suspensions, 11 wheelbases, and three internal heights.
Upon receiving the coveted award from International Van of the Year Chairman, Jarlath Sweeney (pictured, left), Iveco's Brand President, Pierre Lahutte (pictured, right) said the manufacturer was elated to receive the recognition.
"We are delighted that our New Daily has been awarded the prestigious Van of the Year accolade," he said.
"The New Daily is a major step forward in improving TCO, comfort, driveability, productivity and sustainability. We would like to dedicate this award to our customers, who every day count on this reliable and dependable working companion."
The New Daily is expected to reach Australian shores around the middle of 2015, with local pricing and specifications to be confirmed closer to the model's arrival.
