Iveco recently threw its support behind worthy cause 'Christmas Parties for Special Children', the truck maker signing on as a sponsor of the charity's Melbourne event, which was held at Moonee Valley Racecourse in early December.
The event saw around 3000 sick, underprivileged or physically or mentally impaired kids enjoy a wide range of amusements including rides, clowns, magicians, and – of course – a visit from Santa.
Iveco also had an ACCO compactor on site at the event, giving kids the opportunity to hop in the cab and experience a little taste of life behind the wheel of a garbage truck.
According to Genece Cavanagh, Project Manager, Christmas Parties for Special Children – Melbourne, the support of companies like Iveco was vital.
"Without sponsors we simply couldn’t stage these events," she said.
"Fortunately we receive strong support from the likes of Iveco and other community-minded organisations and each year the parties get better and better."
The organisation has been holding these events in a variety of cities for 21 years now.
Marco Quaranta, Iveco Product and Marketing Manager, said it was an easy decision to get on board.
"The children that attend these parties all endure difficult circumstances," he said.
"For many they face burdens that should not be placed on them, let alone at such a young age.
"To help provide them with a joyous experience and an escape – even for just a few hours – was something that Iveco was very pleased to be involved with."
