Heartfelt Kenworth video celebrates 90,000 milestone

Great Aussie manufacturing success story detailed in emotional six-minute doco

Kenworth has released a cracking celebratory video marking the production and delivery of its 90,000th Australian-built truck.

The emotion-charged six-minute long mini-doco features a number of current Kenworth employees, young and old, reminiscing about the incredible path Kenworth has taken since it started building trucks in Australia in 1971.

"It's a brand that creates pride, it brings out the pride in you, whether you're working on it, whether you're driving it, or whether you're just looking at it," explains five-year Kenworth manufacturing employee, Matt Goss in the video.

"You're king of the world, driving this big machine. It's like riding a dragon," he continues.

Happy customers

Kenworth handed over the 90,000th truck, a T909 to Geelong-based operator McColls Transport, during a ceremony at PACCAR Australia’s Bayswater, Melbourne production facility last month.

Kenworth's first major production milestone occurred in 1974 with the delivery of its 1000th locally manufactured vehicle, a K125CR. Both the first milestone truck and the newly delivered 90,000th unit were on display during the ceremony.
