Kobelco pairs with Westco

After identifying that many of its truck customers also utilised earthmoving equipment, Queensland-based truck dealership Westco Trucks has signed a commercial agreement to offer products from Kobelco.

Now named Westco Truck Kobelco, the franchise comprises four outlets across central and northern Queensland.

Westco Trucks’ General Manager for North Queensland, Bernie Trevallion, says the partnership was a logical progression for both companies.

"In the day-to-day dealings with our trucking customers we found that the vast majority of them were also operating earthmoving machinery," he says.

"This gave us a good opportunity to service our customers in another way so we felt the timing was right to start dealing in earthmoving equipment as well.

"When we looked at the manufacturers in the market we looked for a brand that had a reputation for high quality and was a business that was big enough to be well supported on the service side but still be able to build a good business relationship with us. We would not partner with anything less than a first-class brand. Kobelco ticks all those boxes."

Kobelco General Manager – Sales and Service, Doug McQuinn, says that it was an easy decision to partner with Westco Trucks.

"When it came time to expand the Kobelco dealer network our focus was on partnering with a reputable dealer that shares our values of exceptional customer service and passion for our industry," he says.

The entire range of Kobelco machines will be available through the dealership, from the one-tonne SK008 through to the powerful 50-tonne SK500LC-9.
