Kuperman & Partners set to expand

Melbourne-based shipping container transport firm Kuperman & Partners says it's growing its specialist business with the help of MAN trucks

Shipping container transport business Kuperman & Partners is poised to enter the Brisbane market, the move representing yet another expansion from its current footprint in Melbourne and Sydney.

Based at Altona North in Melbourne's western suburbs, the firm was established by Gennady Kuperman in 1999 after he spotted a gap in the transportation market: taking empty shipping containers directly back to the wharves for reloading instead of back to a container yard.

The business flourished and then took a further step forward in 2007 when Kuperman formed a partnership with Mark Alexander, a container expert with a range of contacts in the industry. Today Kuperman & Partners says it handles roughly 80 per cent of Melbourne's empty container business.

According to Kuperman, the foundation of the business is a trustworthy fleet of MAN trucks.

"I can attract the best drivers with these trucks," he says.

"They can come with their white gloves on and stay clean, the interiors are so clean and comfortable! They are the Rolls-Royce of trucks with the quality European styling.

"The long service interval is a major advantage of the MANs because we have a lot of business and we need to keep them working."

Kuperman now runs seven MAN trucks, mainly the bigger TGS models in 4x2 and 6x4 configurations. He says he's been very happy with their performance and the service they've received from Melbourne dealer, Westar Derrimut.

"All the service staff are good people – they know our trucks and are very helpful," he says.

"Service technician Kevin Ramage has been particularly good. Our company is growing and I know we will be doing more business with Westar in the future."
