The Australian truck market picked up slightly in June, with an influx of end-of-financial-year (EOFY) deliveries pushing the monthly total to 4172 new trucks and vans, according to the latest T-Mark data from the Truck Industry Council (TIC).
Deliveries across June represent a significant 24.5 per cent surge over May’s 3351 deliveries, marking the strongest single monthly volume of 2026 so far to bring the first-half year-to-date total to 19,526 heavy vehicle sales.
However, the EOFY bump wasn't enough to shake the ongoing market correction, as sales trail last year’s record volume. Compared to last year, the running first-half total sits 13.5 per cent lower than the 22,582 deliveries recorded over the same period in 2025. Monthly volume also lagged behind the 4,888 sales achieved in June last year, representing a 14.6 per cent year-on-year drop for the month.

This double-digit contraction continues the trend seen throughout the first half of 2026, following relatively consistent year-on-year declines in January (11.5 per cent), February (12.9 per cent), March (11.2 per cent), April (16 per cent), and May (14.5 per cent).
At the top of the leaderboards, Isuzu continued its undisputed reign across the light- and medium-duty segments by massive margins, while Kenworth held onto its crown in the heavy-duty sector despite a strong charge from Volvo.
Isuzu maintains market-wide dominance, with 921 combined deliveries for the month, which is more than double its nearest competitor Hino, which finished June with 455 sales.

The heavy-duty segment recorded its strongest month of the year by a significant margin, delivering 1347 trucks in June 2026 which is a 23.2 per cent lift over May’s 1093 units, likely the result of fleets completing renewals before the end of the financial year.
Year-on-year, the category was down a modest 9.0 per cent from the 1481 units delivered in June 2025. This single-digit decline reinforces the fact that the heavy-duty segment is far more resilient than the smaller truck and van categories.
Kenworth remained atop the heavy-duty ladder, delivering 249 trucks, but Volvo closed the gap achieving 237 sales, just 12 units shy of top spot. Isuzu secured third place with 150 deliveries.
Scania spearheaded the remaining European truckmakers with 125 deliveries, followed by Mercedes-Benz hitting triple digits with 100 sales. UD Trucks had a strong month to claim sixth with 96 units, edging out Hino (80) and DAF (70), Fuso (64) and Mack (61) to round out the top ten.

The challenged medium-duty segment experienced a decent mid-year bump with 468 sales in June 2026, representing a 13.3 per cent improvement on May’s 413 units. However, the long-term outlook remains grim, with the segment suffering a staggering 38.7 per cent collapse compared to the 764 units delivered in June last year.
This year-on-year drop leaves the mid-year total down 37.4 per cent against the first half of 2025, providing further evidence of a permanent structural shift in the market. Freight operators continue to bypass medium-sized trucks, opting instead to scale up to heavy-duty platforms or scale down to nimble, car-licence light trucks for metropolitan delivery.
Isuzu again dominated segment sales in June, with 264 deliveries accounting for 56.4 per cent of the entire mid-size market for the month, pushing its year-to-date total to 1281 units. Fuso locked down a clean second place with an even 100 deliveries, while Hino rounded out the podium with 56 sales.
Miles behind the top three, Iveco maintained its fourth-place position with 12 units to match its May performance and bring its YTD total to 78 units. Further down the ladder, the remaining brands battled it out with largely single digit deliveries.

Light-duty trucks ended the financial year with a bang, as deliveries surged by 39.6 per cent month-on-month to hit 1256 units, up from 900 in May.
Year-on-year figures showed high levels of resilience compared to the broader market, dipping just 5.7 per cent against the 1332 trucks delivered in June 2025. Urban freight and last-mile logistics continue to act as a driver for this segment, shielding it from the deep contractions seen in other segments.
Isuzu achieved 507 deliveries, commanding a dominant 40.4 per cent share of the monthly light-duty volume. Hino recorded an exceptionally strong month in second place with 319 sales, while Fuso held onto third place with 156 units.
Iveco delivered an outstanding result in fourth place, shifting 137 light trucks, while Fiat rounded out the top five with 44 units, followed by Mercedes-Benz (35), LDV (29), and Hyundai (19). Minor single-digit results were achieved by Ford (5), Foton Mobility (2), Volkswagen (1), Renault (1), and Foton (1).

The van segment (3.5-tonne GVM and above) achieved 1101 deliveries in June 2026, picking up by 16.5 per cent compared to May’s 945 units as commercial operators finalised end-of-year asset purchases.
However, the category faced a noticeable pull-back when measured against last year's record-setting pace, slipping 16.0 per cent year-on-year from the 1311 units recorded in June 2025.
Mercedes-Benz maintained its segment crown with 301 deliveries, holding off a strong challenge from LDV which claimed second place with 277 units. Ford comfortably locked in third place with 164 sales.
Renault (138) and Volkswagen (110) both broke through the triple-digit ceiling to complete the top five. Fiat secured sixth place with 89 deliveries, while Iveco added 22 units to the board, and embattled Peugeot finished the month with zero sales.
