LDV launches G10 diesel

Popular LDV van will now be available with turbo-diesel power in both manual and auto
The value-packed LDV G10, which was launched in Australia last year, is now available with a turbo-diesel engine.
Pricing will start from $28,990 drive-away for a diesel with manual transmisison. This positions the LDV between $5000-$10,000 below its most immediate diesel rivals. Only Renault’s manual-only Trafic, in entry-level 66kW form, comes close at $32,990 drive-away.
The petrol version of the G10 has made an impact over the past 18 months with sales amounting to roughly 15 per cent of the petrol van market. And with keen pricing as well as manual and auto versions of the diesel variant that executives of LDV expect to more than double current sales.

"The arrival of the diesel opens up a huge chunk of the one-tonne van market that was previously closed to the G10," said Dinesh Chinnappa, General Manager of LDV Australia. "With its exceptional performance and keen price we expect the G10 will have a significant impact on the Australian van market."

The 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine produces 106.5kW and 350Nm of torque from an low 1800rpm through to 2600rpm. The engine is matched to a choice of either a six speed manual or a six speed automatic gearbox, both optimised for low fuel consumption and load carrying abilities. In manual form, the G10 Turbo Diesel has an official combined fuel consumption figure of 8.3 l/100 km.

"This is not an engine built down to a price,” said Mr Chinnappa. “It has a power and torque output that places it nearly at the top of the performance league in its sector, against vehicles costing tens of thousands more and often with less equipment."

The G10 is also offered with two petrol variants. The manual features a larger capacity normally-aspirated 2.4 litre 105kW engine, while the six speed ZF automatic boasts a 2.0-litre, twin-cam turbocharged petrol engine that puts out 165kW and 330Nm.

"Regardless of engine choice, the G10 is a delight to drive, either around town or on the highway," says Mr Chinnappa. “In short, the G10 works like a van but drives like a car."

The 5.2 cubic metre load space swallows two standard pallets and is easily accessible through large twin side sliding doors, and a rear lift gate, and there is an option of rear barn doors.  There is also sufficient space for walk through access from the driver’s seat. All versions of the G10 have a payload above the one tonne benchmark.

The comprehensive equipment list for the LDV G10 includes air conditioning, power steering, cruise control in the automatic versions, power windows, electric mirrors, 16-inch alloys, Bluetooth and a quality audio system including a large seven-inch LCD touch screen.

Along with its comfort and capacity for hard work, the G10 also boasts safety features including electronic stability control, anti-lock brakes, airbags, roll movement intervention, reverse camera, parking sensors and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

From launch, the new LDV G10 turbo diesel is available with a full range of accessories to enable owners and fleets to tailor the G10 van to specific business needs. These include a range of cargo barriers, roof rack systems, load area lining kits, window kits, tow bars and heavy duty steps, as well as nudge bars and weather shields.

From a recommend retail price of just $28,990 drive-away for ABN holders, the LDV G10 Turbo Diesel offers unbeatable value and, we’re told, the larger fleet customers will be able to drive an even better deal.

The G10 is backed by a three year/100,000km warranty, supported by LDV’s national dealer network. The G10 is also covered by 24/7 roadside assistance.
We'll bring you a full test on the LDV when one becomes available.
