The ATA reports that country music legend Lee Kernaghan has taken to social media and urged his followers to sign the train visibility petition.
“24 years ago I performed a concert out in the wheatbelt of WA and dedicated the show to the memory of three young Australians who were killed at a level crossing collision,” Lee said in his social media post.

“24 years later the families of these young people are still fighting with government departments to turn this horrific tragedy into the catalyst for a change in laws which will undoubtedly save the lives of other Australians living in the bush.
“The petition calls on the Australian Parliament to immediately implement legislation requiring mandatory rotating beacons on the front of trains and lighting on the side of locomotives and rolling stock to improve safety at unlit level crossings.

“I especially would like to acknowledge Lara Jensen who lost her dear brother Christian and two mates on the way to a 21st birthday party in country WA.
“Please show your support and help her and the other families get what seems to me as common sense changes implemented into the current rules, or I should say lack of rules,” Lee said.
