British PACCAR subsidiary Leyland Trucks has produced its 400,000th commercial vehicle, the milestone falling 35 years after the current facility was commissioned back in 1980.
The plant's employees gathered to mark the occasion, with the vehicle in question – a DAF XF 460 prime mover – being handed over at a ceremony to local British wheat supplier, Carr's Flour.
The Leyland facility is located in the town of the same name in Lancashire, and produces DAF LF models for the domestic market along with right-hand-drive DAF CF and XF models for export.
Leyland Trucks Managing Director, Bryan Sitko, said the plant's workers should be duly proud of the landmark.
"Production of the 400,000th vehicle is a notable milestone for the company," he said.
"It is first and foremost a recognition for the almost 1000 employees, who supply our customers with trucks of the highest quality."
