Limited-edition Argosy looming

A trio of Adtrans dealers have joined forces to produce an exclusive, limited-edition version of Freightliner's Argosy

As Freightliner celebrates 25 years of operation in Australia, limited details have emerged of an up-spec, limited-edition Freightliner Argosy that has been developed by three outlets in the Adtrans dealer network.

The Argosy LE will be restricted to just 25 examples, and is the result of a collaborative effort between Stillwell Trucks Sydney, Daimler Trucks Adelaide and Whitehorse Truck Centre Melbourne.

At this stage the exclusive truck is still under wraps but it will be officially unveiled at the three dealerships simultaneously on Monday, September 15.

Steve Shearer, General Manager, Adtrans National Truck Division, says the project came about as a means of giving the cab-over model a concerted push.

"The three dealerships wanted to get together to give the Argosy a bit of a boost," he says.

"We set out to reinvigorate the Argosy and so we've produced the Argosy LE – a limited-edition model that will be restricted to just 25 units."

Although details at this stage remain scarce, Mr Shearer says the Argosy LE will benefit from a range of upgrades.

"We wanted to give it a really high-end look and feel, especially inside the cab," he says.

"The interior trim has been upgraded and the dash now sports soft-touch surfaces thanks to a felt underlay – like what you'd expect to find in a top-end car.

"The driver's seat has also been enhanced and features superior upholstery while externally the Argosy LE also looks very different. It's got a real Euro 6 sort of look to it, with a deep front grille."

The Freightliner Argosy LE will be unveiled to customers and the general public alike on Monday, September 15, at the following locations: Stillwell Trucks Sydney, 20A Ashford Avenue, Milperra NSW 2214; Daimler Trucks Adelaide, Cnr South Road and Aruma Street, Regency Park SA 5010; and Whitehorse Truck Centre, 75 Princes Highway, Dandenong South VIC 3175.
