Linfox goes racing

Transport giant supports small community by sponsoring outback races
Linfox has recently sponsored a unique outback horse race in the remote town of McKinlay.
The annual McKinlay Races are a highlight for the North Western Queensland town, which has a population of 20. The event attracts visitors from across the state, with almost 350 people through the gates this year despite the inclement weather.
Linfox has been a fixture in the town since 2013 due to its contract with the South32 Cannington Mine. The contract employs 35 people from the wider region, including local drivers from nearby Cloncurry.
Linfox sponsored Race 4; the Linfox Benchmark 45 which was run over 1000 metres. Operations Supervisor Josh Hofmaier (pictured third from left) represented Linfox at the event and presented the ribbon to the winning jockey and horse.
Linfox Health Safety Environmental and Community Manager, Peter Garwood says the annual race day is very important to the town, "The community has limited access to resources, and without sponsorship it can be very difficult for them to hold such events. We’re committed to playing our part in supporting community events and building on our good relationship with the people of McKinlay and surrounds," he said.
