Mack's last anniversary Titan to be auctioned

Final example of Mack's 50th Anniversary Southern Cross Titan to be auctioned to support Queensland cancer charity
Mack Trucks has announced that the final remaining example of its limited-edition 50th Anniversary Southern Cross Titan series of trucks, ‘Goldie’, will be auctioned on Saturday, May 31, with the sale’s proceeds supporting the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland.
The auction will take place at the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland’s (CVIAQ) President’s Charity Dinner, to be held in the Main Auditorium of Brisbane City Hall, in King George Square, at 6.30pm. The truck will be on display in King George Square on the night.
‘Goldie’ is the last of just 30 limited-edition Southern Cross Titans built by Mack to commemorate the manufacturer’s 50th anniversary of truck production in this country. The exclusive 685hp (504kW) truck features a striking gold cab and chassis, the distinctive hue paying homage to Australia’s shimmering outback.
The Vice President Sales for Mack Trucks, Dean Bestwick, said the company was only too happy to be supporting such a worthy local charity.
“Like us, the Leukaemia Foundation is part of the Queensland community,” he said.
“It’s essential that we give back, and there’s no better way than to auction an iconic Mack truck.
“Cancer has touched many people within our organisation. The auction is an important way for Mack to show its ongoing support to those who’ve been affected by the disease.”
The Chief Executive Officer of the Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland, Bill Petch, said the funds raised from the auction would give the organisation a much-needed boost.
“The proceeds from Mack’s generous donation will assist in keeping our vital support services free of charge for patients impacted by a blood cancer diagnosis,” he said.
Mr Bestwick said there would be no shortage of bidders for the head-turning truck.
“There were only 30 Southern Cross Titans made last year and 29 were snapped up very quickly,” he said.
“I imagine a long-standing customer or die-hard Mack fan will help support this great cause and buy Goldie on the night.”
Interested bidders should contact their local Mack sales representative; bidders will be invited to attend the auction in Brisbane on May 31.
