Penske Commercial Vehicles has delivered 10 custom MAN TGM 15.290 4x4 trucks to body builder, HMA Materials Handling (HMA) in NSW.
In conjunction with local MAN Truck & Bus dealer, Hartwigs, the ten units have been fitted with hi-rail equipment that allows the trucks to drive both on the road and on rail tracks.
While on rail tracks, the 4x4 units drive through the rear wheels with the front wheel assembly lifted off the tracks and the hi-rail assembly engaged.

Equipped to carry up to six people, the dual-cab units also come with a Fassi crane in the rear to transport equipment between the truck and the track.
“Penske Commercial Vehicles and Hartwigs worked together to supply these bespoke units to HMA to meet the required specifications.
“These trucks are extremely versatile and unique, and projects such as this one allow us to showcase the flexibility of MAN while delivering maximum safety for occupants and other workers in the vicinity, low whole-of-life costs, great fuel efficiency, and superior comfort,” said Don Meluccy, regional sales manager, Penske Commercial Vehicles.
“Feedback from drivers of the MAN TGM range is that it encompasses all the creature comforts you could need in day-to-day work.”
Hartwigs’ Dubbo dealership was instrumental in ascertaining the key requirements to ensure that the trucks were specified correctly.
“We worked closely with HMA to ensure that the TGMs were delivered to specification within the required timeframe,” said Charlie Hartwig, sales manager at Hartwigs.
“We look forward to a long partnership with HMA delivering MAN trucks for both on-and off-highway applications,” he concluded.
