MAN Truck & Bus recently delivered its first RR4 CO 26.500 bus in Australia, with the 500hp, Euro6c model handed over to New South Wales's Cooma Coaches.
The model is powered by MAN's D2676 LOH37 engine, which MAN says delivers more horsepower yet better efficiency.
According to Clint Stoermer, National Sales and Service Manager – Bus, for Penske Commercial Vehicles, the new model is a performance powerhouse.
"Penske Commercial Vehicles is delighted to be able to bring MAN's latest and most powerful Euro 6c offering to the Australian market," he said.
"The RR4 CO 26.500 coach chassis is equipped with MAN's Euro 6c, 12.4-litre D26 in-line, six-cylinder engine, which produces a huge 500hp at 1800rpm and 2500Nm of torque from as low down as 930rpm.
"When this is combined with its 12-speed Tipmatic transmission and MAN's hypoid axle, the drive provides more than enough power for any application including the ski fields of NSW.
"Not only more powerful, the Euro 6c engine is also expected to provide a fuel consumption saving compared to its predecessor."
The RR4 CO 26.500 boasts 140,000km or 18-month engine oil drain intervals and comes with cutting-edge safety systems.
"Safety is a key factor in high-speed touring coaches, and in this respect the MAN RR4 is unequalled," said Mr Stoermer.
"Not only is it equipped with an electronic braking and stability control, the latter including roll-over protection, the RR4 CO 26.500 chassis also features additional driver assistance systems more commonly found in high-end passenger cars, such as adaptive cruise control, tyre-pressure monitoring, lane departure warning, and emergency brake assist. And that is all offered as standard.
"This chassis meets all the requirements that our coach customers demand: performance, efficiency, low whole-of-life costs, and maximum safety."
