MAN Automotive Imports’ long-term association with the Triple Eight Race Engineering V8 Supercar outfit will continue in 2014, with the business again taking on ‘official transporter’ status.
Two MAN TGX 540s will be tasked with hauling the Red Bull Racing-badged Holden VF Commodores around Australia.
“To and from the race track, Warwick our transport driver becomes the most important member of our team, so our ongoing MAN relationship is vital to the team’s wellbeing,” said Peter Jamieson, Commercial Operations Manager Triple Eight Race Engineering.
“Not only does he need to arrive safely, but having won the best presented team for three consecutive years, we also give our utmost consideration to the presentation levels that Red Bull expects.
“Our TGXs certainly look the part, plus both our truckies love the power, particularly up the Toowoomba range! We simply cannot recommend highly enough our MANs and the service we receive.”
The TGX 540 features a four-valve, in-line six-cylinder engine with common rail injection, turbo charging and intercooling, producing 540hp and 2500Nm. Other features include a built-in crumple zone, the latest cabin ergonomics, disc brakes, anti-lock braking and an electronic brakeforce system which ensures a shorter emergency stopping distance.
Triple Eight Race Engineering is the reigning V8 Supercar champion, thanks to Jamie Whincup, while Craig Lowndes also finished second to make it a dream season for the Brisbane-based team.
