A leading transport provider to the agricultural industry, Western Australia’s Marley’s Transport says it’s always prided itself on innovation. That belief has now manifested in the firm’s entry to the electric vehicle market and the delivery of its first electric truck, a Volvo FM Electric.
Delivered by Truck Centre WA, the new arrival will be utilised to haul produce and deliver supplies to the ag industry, while also embodying Marley’s proactive approach to sustainability.
According to the owner of Marley’s Transport, Frank Marley, innovation is more than just a choice. “My dad always said, ‘If you don’t stay at the front, you will get left behind’, which is a value we have always lived by,” he says.
“For us, this truck signifies our commitment to leading from the front with sustainability and alternative fuels.”
The company says it will continue to explore other eco-friendly practices as well as opportunities to further expand its fleet.
Volvo Trucks Australia Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Tom Chapman, says the delivery represents a great fit for the operator.
“Marley’s have a proud history of innovating to find efficiencies across their business and I’m sure their pursuit of sustainable transport solutions and their embrace of emerging technology will serve them well into the future.”
Volvo says it’s now delivered over 80 battery-electric trucks in Australia, with production of BEVs set to commence at Volvo Group Australia’s Wacol plant as early as 2028.
At a global level, Volvo hopes to have battery-electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles account for half of its total production by 2030.
