Trailer manufacturer MaxiTRANS has once again thrown its support behind R U OK? Day, the national suicide prevention and mental health awareness initiative that urged Australians to check in on their mates and loved ones last Thursday (September 10).
This year saw MaxiTRANS partner with Mildura Truck Centre & G&A Lombardi to support the cause, pledging one per cent of the purchase price of all new trailers, truck bodies and parts purchased from participating outlets on the day.
In the end the donation tallied some $15,000 which, together with MaxiTRANS' support of R U OK? Day in previous years, brings the company's total contribution to the cause to almost $60,000.
The challenge of COVID-19 saw MaxiTRANS head online to mark the day this year, with staff participating in online mental health sessions to learn about mental health strategies and telltale warning signs.

"This year made it even more important for us to stop to reflect on 'R U OK? Day' and the message it delivers," said MaxiTRANS Managing Director and CEO, Dean Jenkins.
"The need for increased awareness of mental health and the challenges it places on everyone is certainly more evident at this particular point in time.
"It was great to see such an overwhelming amount of support from our customers this year. Support towards the campaign this year has far exceeded previous years which has been really fantastic to see. Our customers can feel proud knowing their contribution to 'RUOK?' will go a long way towards continuing to provide much-needed support and awareness for suicide prevention in our industry.
"It’s a challenging time for all of us and a day like R U OK? Day is an important one to celebrate. Most importantly though, we should not limit suicide prevention to one day a year. If you see someone struggling, at any time, ask them 'R U OK?'."
