MaxiTRANS shake-up in NSW

Trailer specialist MaxiTRANS is replacing NSW dealer SX Trailers with a network of wholly owned outlets
Australian trailer brand MaxiTRANS is restructuring its operations in New South Wales, with the supplier announcing it is withdrawing from its current arrangement with trailer dealer SX Trailers to instead establish a network of wholly owned outlets.
A company press release says the change – which is effective immediately – has come about "in order to allow SX to shift its focus towards new business objectives", and that the decision was made through mutual agreement.
SX Trailers has said it is relinquishing its MaxiTRANS distribution in order to build a national semi-trailer parts and service network, and indeed it recently appointed its first outlet outside of NSW – its ninth outlet in total – with the opening of a branch in Somerton, in Melbourne's northern suburbs.
The move will see SX Trailer dealers in Newcastle, Sydney and Wagga Wagga end their association with MaxiTRANS.
MaxiTRANS says the development, which ends a 32-year partnership, won't alter its existing arrangements with other MaxiTRANS dealers servicing the state. Hartwigs and Johnson's will continue as dealers of Hamelex White in central and south-western NSW, while Mildura Truck Centre will continue to service south-western NSW for Maxi-CUBE, Lusty EMS and Freighter.
According to MaxiTRANS Managing Director, Michael Brockhoff, the new vision for furthering the company's interests in NSW will only be to the benefit of customers of its six trailer and rigid-body brands.
"We recognise the size and importance of the New South Wales market," he said.
"As such, MaxiTRANS will establish a wholly-owned dealership network for new and used trailer sales, combined with comprehensive service and parts capabilities.
"Effective immediately, we have employed key existing SX Trailers’ sales staff Wayne Sloane, located at Warnervale, as well as Matthew Watson and Dean Price, located at Ingleburn, to ensure a smooth transition and to minimise any disruption to our customers."
Mr Sloane is based at MaxiPARTS Central Coast – 15 Burnet Road, Warnervale (tel: 0418 221 450) – while Mr Watson and Mr Price can be found at MaxiPARTS Ingleburn, 5-7 Memorial Avenue, Ingleburn (tel: 0422 866 069 or 0419 400 299).
MaxiTRANS says it is seeking to establish its new wholly owned outlets to replace the three SX Trailer outlets as soon as possible.
As part of the arrangement SX Trailers will continue to provide interim service and warranty support in NSW for MaxiTRANS brands.
