Leading trailer manufacturer, MaxiTRANS, has announced a number of charitable endeavours in time for Christmas, designed towards helping the homeless and less fortunate at a time of year that can be particularly difficult for those in need.
MaxiTRANS was approached by the OnTrack Foundation asking for assistance to paint a much needed second Soup Bus, after requirements from its original bus reached capacity. The Soup Bus, run by the OnTrack Foundation, is an after-dark meal service providing meals to the homeless and less fortunate in the Ballarat region five nights a week, 52 weeks a year. MaxiTRANS agreed to supply the resources to paint the bus using the same paint booth that it uses to produce its leading semi-trailer brands, with paint supplied by PPG. The second Soup Bus will be on the road in time for Christmas.
In previous years, MaxiTRANS staff have also provided assistance to the Soup Bus by way of contributing to donation drives for items such as UHT milk and pasta. This year, MaxiTRANS staff again participated in a non-perishable food drive.
Speaking at the announcement, Dean Jenkins said, “The Soup Bus is such a great cause. There are so many homeless and less fortunate people in the local community that benefit from this initiative. We at MaxiTRANS are proud to have been able to assist the OnTrack Foundation with getting a second Soup Bus on the road and donating much-needed supplies.”
The OnTrack Foundation uses donations such as those from MaxiTRANS’ non-perishable food drive to keep the Soup Bus running. According to OnTrack’s website, all board members and crew are volunteers, ensuring 100 per cent of the donations raised go back to helping those in need.
In addition to helping the Soup Bus, MaxiTRANS donated the cost of its annual customer Christmas gift program to food charity, SecondBite. SecondBite works with over 1200 community food programs across Australia to redistribute rescued food to those in our community who need it most. In the 2015-2016 financial year, SecondBite provided the equivalent of 20 million meals to Australians doing it tough. MaxiTRANS’ donation will assist SecondBite to deliver an additional 20,000 meals in 2017/2018 to Australian families going through tough times.
“These charitable donations are aimed at helping to ease the added pressure often felt by charities at Christmas,” said Dean.
In September this year, MaxiTRANS also assisted mental health charity, R U OK, raising $15,000 to go towards its suicide prevention campaigns.
