Mercedes-Benz Truck & Bus recently unveiled a new program of support for local charities Brainwave Australia and Les Twentyman's 20th Man Fund.
Dubbed the 'Neighbourhood' initiative, the program – which involves financial support, on-going fundraising activities and volunteer assistance from staff – was announced recently by Justin Whitford, General Manager Mercedes-Benz Truck & Bus.
Mr Whitford said the initiative went far beyond purely monetary donations.
"The new initiative will be a key focus of our entire business, our staff and our customers," he said.
"It’s not just about supporting financially but genuinely assisting the work and services these fantastic organisations provide."
Brainwave Australia supports children and families affected by paediatric brain injuries and illnesses while Les Twentyman's 20th Man Fund supports homeless and disadvantaged youth.
The Chairman of Brainwave Australia, David Blackley, said the organisation was thrilled to receive the support.
"At Brainwave, we’re proud to have a strong partnership with Mercedes-Benz Australia that helps us to deliver our important support work to children and their families facing a brain illness or injury," he said.
"The 'Neighbourhood' initiative goes to strengthen the importance of the group's connection to community and cements its commitment to grassroots support."
The General Manager of Les Twentyman's 20th Man Fund, Wayne Owens, said the company's support was giving Australia's disadvantaged youth a chance at a brighter future.
"You can’t put a price on giving a young person a future and all of our partners play an important role in not only allowing us to continue our services but to allow us to grow and expand our service outreach," he said.
To further assist the 20th Man Fund, Mercedes-Benz Truck & Bus has rolled out an Apprentice Development Program that will allow 20th Man candidates to develop skills related to the automotive and transport industries.
Mr Whitford said Mercedes-Benz Truck & Bus was delighted to be supporting these two eminently worthy charities.
"We are extremely excited with the 'Neighbourhood' initiative, which is dedicated to better supporting key community organisations and mandated with driving positive community outcomes," he said.
