Mercedes-Benz cuts parts pricing

Up to 30 per cent reduction in price for mainstream truck parts
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has significantly reduced the price of its parts as well as remanufactured engines and transmissions.
The company says it has has timed the pricing realignment to coincide with the roll-out of its all-new Mercedes-Benz truck range, with price reductions of more than 30 per cent on key items. More than 10,000 items are now more affordable than before.
As part of the initiative, Mercedes-Benz is also expanding its product range of remanufactured parts to more than 3000 items, offering another cost-effective long-term option that it says maintains the high quality of the trucks.
It has also reduced the cost of remanufactured engines and transmissions by 30 per cent.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has improved the stock levels of critical parts at its 46-strong dealership network to increase vehicle uptime, in addition to carrying out more staff training than ever before in order to best support the new-generation Mercedes-Benz trucks.
Mercedes-Benz Truck and Bus director, Michael May, says the parts price realignment for current and previous generation Actros models makes the business case for the new truck even better.
"Our customers are already telling us about the money they are saving on fuel with our new generation truck compared to what they have been running," Mr May said.
"We want to make the business case for our truck even better by reducing the cost of our quality parts."

Mr May said that Mercedes-Benz engineers had running costs in mind when they developed the new-generation truck, coming up with simpler designs for key parts and aiming to lengthen the life cycle of parts by 20 per cent.
The new range of smart engines also offer maintenance advantages. For example, service intervals can stretch up to 80,000km depending on the application, we're told.
The remanufactured parts portfolio includes engine short blocks, transmissions, starter motors, alternators, turbos, water pumps, compressors, brake calipers, clutch kits and compressors.
Mercedes-Benz says the remanufactured parts not only deliver a cost benefit, but are also remanufactured to the latest specifications incorporating product upgrades and modifications and are tested on the same production line that builds and tests new series production units.
