Mercedes-Benz Econic at AWRE
The Daimler brand will be showcasing its dual-control and safety-packed vocational truck at the 2022 Australasian Waste and Recycling ExpoThe 2022 Australasian Waste and Recycling Expo opens tomorrow at the Sydney International Convention and Exhibition Centre, and it’s there you’ll find Mercedes-Benz highlighting the benefits of its Econic vocational truck.

Dual or single control
The model is well suited to the refuse collection role, being available in a dual-control format specifically addressing the needs of the Australian and New Zealand markets, in addition to a single-control model.
Mercedes-Benz says the Econic is the result of a ‘safety first’ philosophy that puts the truck’s safety credentials at the core of its design, the truck boasting a cab that enhances driver vision along with an array of fully integrated active safety features.
In fact, select Econic models have been awarded London’s Direct Vision award (formerly known as CLOCS), which measures how well a driver can see other road users, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Sideguard Assist
The Mercedes-Benz Sideguard Assist system utilises twin radar technology to monitor the truck’s nearside, alerting the driver to the presence of any vehicles, objects or pedestrians potentially in harm’s way.
That’s on top of lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, and the latest-generation Mercedes-Benz Active Brake Assist, which can even brake when it detects moving pedestrians.
Blind spot monitoring available
Blind spot monitoring is available as an option, further enhancing vision via four external cameras placed around the truck, while other notable points include the Econic’s walk-through cabin and seating for up to four.
Mercedes-Benz also says both Econic models available in Australia are now equipped with more powerful air-conditioning packages with between 8.5kW and 10.0kW of power, ensuring comfy conditions through our long, hot summers.
The Australian Waste and Recycling Expo will run across August 24 and 25 at the International Convention and Exhibition Centre (ICC) in Sydney.
