Michelin Australia has launched an emergency breakdown service for truck operators, with the nationwide service to not only include its own dealer network but also 400 other truck tyre outlets throughout Australia.
The program, called 'Active Assistance', is available to all Michelin fleet customers, as well as operators which purchase their tyres through the Michelin dealer network.
“Michelin Active Assistance is a key part of the service package we provide. Our fleet management program includes qualified technicians undertaking regular tyre checks and offering tyre management expertise to our network," said David Issautier, Commercial Director, Truck, Michelin Australia. "This support coupled with Michelin Active Assistance will greatly contribute to operational profitability.
“Reducing the amount of time a truck spends off the road is the key for any fleet operator, and this is where we see Michelin Active Assistance being able to contribute to the profitability of those operators that use our service.”
Here's how the program works:
1. Michelin Active Assistance can be accessed via a free call number: 1800 330 200;
2. The situation is assessed to find the safest and fastest solution;
3. The closest Michelin service provider provides assistance; and
4. A detailed incident report is sent to the company after the event.
The incident report describes the details of the breakdown and the solution provided. These reports are then collated monthly to measure various indicators such as breakdown per kilometre, incidents per state and a location summary.
"All of this means better tyre management and ultimately less down time," said Issautier.
