French manufacturer Renault has chalked up a milestone within its light commercial vehicle range, with its Maubeuge facility in northern France recently producing the one-millionth second-generation Kangoo.
Over 3.2 million Kangoos have been produced since the model arrived in 1998, and now one million since the model was redesigned in 2007.
The milestone model is destined for a retail customer in Japan, says Renault.
The Director of Renault Maubeuge, Jose Martin Vega, said he was very proud of the Kangoo's success.
"Kangoo continues to appeal to a diverse clientele of both business and retail customers in all its markets," he said.
"Our entire plant is proud to celebrate this new production landmark, which confirms our ability to meet customer expectations in terms of quality and lead times."
The entire range of Renault LCVs is manufactured in France, with the Trafic and Master produced at the brand's Sandouville and Batilly plants.
The Kangoo is also performing strongly here in Australia. A total of 1177 examples were sold here last year, the figure representing impressive growth of 77.3 per cent over the previous year.
