Need a 'slightly used' Mack truck, Mercedes-Benz Unimog or Land Rover 110 in your life? Auctioneer house Pickles is poised to put a range of ex-military vehicles and related gear under the hammer, with bidding getting under way from as little as $1.
There are two separate auctions involved: one for vehicles and trailers and the other for a variety of military gear, the latter spanning everything from vehicle spare parts to mobile air-con units to tarpaulins.
The items have been sourced from Australian Frontline Machinery, the exclusive seller of vehicles and equipment direct from the Australian Defence Force, with the auctions to be held from August 8 to August 14.
On the vehicle front, bidders can choose from 6x6 Mack dump trucks, Mercedes-Benz Unimogs, Land Rover 110 4x4s, E-One Titan HPRs and Hino 4x4 fire trucks, plus an assortment of trailers. The neighbours mightn't share your enthusiasm for your new purchase, buy hey – most of these things are camouflaged so they'll blend right in on your front lawn!
"We're really excited to kick-start our partnership with Australian Frontline Machinery with these two auctions," said Nick Johnson, National Manager at Pickles Industrial.
"This is definitely a unique opportunity to own a piece of Australia's military history.
"These vehicles are one-of-a-kind, built-to-last collector pieces for military enthusiasts, but they could also be a great secondary vehicle for weekend adventures, or a good restoration project for those willing to roll up their sleeves."
Stock for the upcoming auctions is based in Minto (NSW) and Bandiana (Vic). Assets in Bandiana can be viewed on August 9-10 (9:00am to 4:00pm) while assets in Minto can be viewed on August 10-12 (8:30am to 3:30pm).
