New CEO for HVIA

Todd Hacking has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia, replacing Brett Wright who is stepping down after 21 years of service

Acting President of the HVIA, Nathan Usher said the board had undertaken a rigorous search and selection process to find the right person.

Hacking joins HVIA after spending six years in a senior role for a related national peak body, advocating for the heavy construction materials industry. His advocacy was responsible for landmark decisions across the regulatory sphere, adding value back to the industry.

He has also had senior roles in government, at both federal and state levels in South Australia.

“We’re delighted Todd will be leading the next stage of our journey as we continue to build HVIA’s capacity to deliver value for our members,” said Nathan Usher. “Todd brings a set of skills and experience to the table that will enable HVIA to elevate our influence and profile across the industry and into government.

“HVIA is executing an ambitious and vital agenda, advocating to all levels of government to promote and enable a successful and sustainable heavy vehicle industry,” Usher added.

Hacking graduated from Adelaide University in 2008 with Degrees in Law and Arts, where he majored in Politics. He is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in the Supreme Court of South Australia.

He has previously served as an elected member for a G6 Council in Adelaide and has contributed to numerous boards and committees across his professional life, including the Mine Safety Advisory Council, the Infrastructure Participation Panel, the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Advisory Board, the Bays Precinct Reference Group and the Resources Advisory Forum.

“I am looking forward to building on HVIA’s excellent foundation and working tirelessly for our existing members, as well as seeking new members to join us on our journey,” Mr Hacking said. “By working together, we will present a strong and united voice to the government, stakeholders and the broader community.”

Hacking will be based in Brisbane at HVIA’s national office commencing in February.
