Based in the Melbourne suburb of St Kilda but servicing all areas of Melbourne and regional Victoria, St Kilda Mums recycle nursery equipment such as cots, prams and car seats as well as clothes, linen and other baby essentials.
These quality donated goods are cleaned and supplied to families in need, as identified by maternal health nurses and local social service agencies.
Before being provided with the Daily, St Kilda Mums relied on the generosity of couriers to deliver and pick up goods free of charge or at a discounted rate, but this removed some control from the charity, according to St Kilda Mums CEO, Jessica MacPherson.
“The Daily will allow us to use our own drivers, so the whole delivery process can be better managed – we’re absolutely thrilled to have it," Jessica said.

The van was funded following joint efforts between Gandel Philanthropy, IVECO Dealership Adtrans and IVECO Australia, with the IVECO team closely advising and specifying the van to best suit urban and regional distribution in which it would operate.
Considering the Daily would sometimes be used by volunteers as well as professional drivers, the full automatic transmission was selected to provide a more comfortable and stress-free driving experience in high traffic areas.
For easier parking the van also features the IVECONNECT multimedia system with reversing camera, while to help keep fuel bills at a minimum, the team selected the most frugal Daily engine available, a 2.3 litre turbo-diesel producing 126hp and 320Nm of torque.
Jessica said that she couldn’t believe how easy-to-use the Daily van was: “It’s comfortable and practical and so easy-to-drive – it’s really like driving a passenger car but with larger dimensions. It’s also extremely manoeuvrable with a great turning circle,” she said.

“I’d really like to thank Adtrans, IVECO Australia and Gandel Philanthropy for providing us with the van. Aside from the van, IVECO was also very interested in supporting us in other ways, such as organising equipment drives – all this help is greatly appreciated.”
IVECO Australia Marketing Manager, Darren Swenson, said the company was pleased to be supporting St Kilda Mums.
“St Kilda Mums is a wonderful organisation that’s doing an excellent job in supporting mothers and their broader families,” Mr Swenson said.
“We hope the new Daily will make it easier and more efficient for St Kilda Mums to get their goods to needy recipients faster.”
