Following on from its recent world press launch, the new Daily (pictured) will be grabbing the limelight at Iveco's display at the 65th IAA commercial vehicles expo, which will be staged in Hanover, Germany, from September 25 to October 2.
A total of seven new Daily models will feature on Iveco's 2500 square metre display at Hanover, including a minibus, a CNG (compressed natural gas) version and one fitted out as a mobile workshop.
Iveco says the third generation of its Daily has been updated from top to bottom. While it retains its ladder-frame chassis, the manufacturer says 80 per cent of its components have been redesigned, while its F1C engine – a four-cylinder turbo-diesel – now benefits from a new HI-MATIC eight-speed automatic gearbox. A six-speed manual transmission is also available.
Iveco says the HI-MATIC transmission requires less than 200 milliseconds to enact a gear shift, while the new Quad Leaf front suspension – essentially a double quadrilateral arrangement with transverse leaf springs – improves the ride quality significantly.
The Daily will sit alongside Iveco's larger offerings at the expo, including an 18-tonne Eurocargo, a Crossway Low Entry bus and four heavy-duty Stralis trucks. An LNG (liquefied natural gas) version of the Stralis will also be on display (pictured), as will a Super-Light – a version that uses a variety of technical solutions to minimise mass. An off-road section, meanwhile, will showcase Iveco's Trakker models along with its updated Astra HD9.
While local pricing and specifications for the new Iveco Daily are yet to be confirmed, the model is expected to reach Australia in the New Year.
