Iveco's New Daily van has successfully completed an epic journey across five countries, the next-generation LCV serving as a support vehicle for Maserati's recent 'China-Italy Centennial Rally'.
Celebrating Maserati's 100th year of operation, the rally saw a fleet of six Maserati sports cars depart Beijing on August 11 before heading for Modena, Italy, where they took part in the official Maserati celebrations.
While an Iveco PowerDaily – a Chinese-manufactured LCV – covered the 2000km leg from the Chinese capital to the Russian border, Iveco's New Daily took over from there, providing technical support to the Maserati fleet over the 9700km run home.
The challenging route took participants through Russia, Belarus, Poland, the Czech Republic, Germany and finally Italy, where the New Daily hosted the Maserati fleet at the Suzzara facility at Mantua, just north of Modena, where the New Daily is produced.
Powered by a 2.3-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel that produces a claimed 146hp, the New Daily 35S15V support vehicle was fitted out as a mobile workshop, also carrying a variety of spares to keep the Maserati fleet moving.
The third generation of Iveco's enduring Daily range, the New Daily was unveiled to the world's press in Italy in early June. Click here to read the trucksales.com.au review.
Iveco says the New Daily performed strongly over the gruelling route, proving to be "strong like a truck while driving like a car".
