New EGM for Toll Ipec
Toll Group has announced the appointment of Simon Thornton as Executive General Manager of Toll IpecToll Ipec, the parcels division of Toll Global Express, has a new Executive General Manager, with transport industry veteran Simon Thornton recently taking on the role.
Mr Thornton brings with him a wealth of experience to Toll Ipec, having previously served as with major transport businesses both here and overseas.
He was most recently a partner at McKinsey & Co., where he led large-scale business turnarounds in Australia. Previously he held the position of CEO of McColl's Transport, where he drove a long-term transformation of the company into a specialised milk and chemicals tanker business.
Mr Thornton spent most of the 1990s with heavy equipment company Caterpillar in Australia and Europe and held the Vice President role with North American Coal and also with Case New Holland.
"I'm very excited to be joining Toll and look forward to working with the team at Asia-Pacific's leading provider of logistics services," Mr Thornton said.
Mr Thornton will be based at the new Melbourne Airport facility in Tullamarine.
