The new IVECO ACCO has begun customer trials in Melbourne, the Euro 6-compliant model now doing duty for waste management firm, Solo Resource Recovery.
The prototype in question is a dual-control 6x4 refuse truck powered by IVECO's Cursor 9 SCR engine – a Euro 6 powerplant delivering a claimed 310hp and 1300Nm, the power fed to the rear axles via an Allison Generation Five 3200 Series six-speed automatic transmission.

Fitted with a Bucher Municipal side loader compactor body, the truck will complete around 200 engine hours with Solo Resource Recovery before it heads to other service providers including JJ Richards, JR Richards, Cleanaway, Veolia Suez and Remondis.
It's one of four prototypes that will be trialled before the model's official launch later this year.
The new range will be available in 6x4 and 8x4 formats, with IVECO front axles on tapered two-leaf parabolic suspension and IVECO rear airbag suspension with Meritor tandem-drive axles with traction control and diff locks.
The new model will also be available with a Parker Chelsea PTO.
The Allison auto is the sole transmission choice, while the Cursor 9 engine will be available in ratings spanning 310-360hp and 1300-1650Nm, with Euro 6 emissions compliance delivered by IVECO's Hi-eSCR system.
Safety is well addressed in the next ACCO, with standard inclusions spanning adaptive cruise control, ABS, EBS, autonomous braking, stability control, axle load indicator, LED daytime running lights and LED taillights.
Meanwhile, the new cabin design offers improved ergonomics, enhanced visibility and more comfort, says IVECO.
"IVECO consulted heavily with partners in vocational markets during the development of the new Euro 6 ACCO, to ensure this new product would very closely meet their needs," said IVECO ANZ, SEA and Japan Product Manager, Marco Quaranta.
"Early feedback from these customers has been extremely positive, with all commenting favourably on the direction the latest range has taken.
"The new specification combines many of the much-loved qualities of the previous model with cutting-edge technology borrowed from the Stralis X-Way platform – it's been a huge collaborative effort between our local engineering department and IVECO's European headquarters.
"It's a challenge to update an industry icon such as the ACCO but we're confident that the ongoing trials will show that the program has been successful."
