A new leadership team has been unveiled at Scania AB, with senior Volkswagen executive Andreas Renschler filling the role of Chairman of the Board and Per Hallberg (pictured) stepping up as the company's new President and CEO.
Hallberg will also become a member of the Board alongside fellow newcomers Annika Falkengren and Markus S. Piech, while Peter Wallenberg Jr, Helmut Aurenz and Christian Porsche will continue their existing roles.
The reshuffle follows the departure of former President and CEO, Martin Lundstedt, last April. Lundstedt left Scania to take up the role of President and CEO at Volvo Group – a role he will fill from October, when he takes the reins from acting President and CEO (and Volvo Group CFO), Jan Gurander.
Gurander has served in a caretaker capacity for the position since former Volvo Group President and CEO, Olof Persson, left the firm in April.
The restructure represents the latest round of changes since Volkswagen assumed full control of Scania in May 2014. In the year since the German automotive giant has sought to realise the existing synergies between Scania, sibling brand MAN and those of its own Volkswagen commercial vehicles division.
At the time of the acquisition Volkswagen said it hoped to unlock annual savings of up to Euro 650 million (then $A950 million) through having three commercial vehicle operations under the one parent, although it admitted it could take up to decade to achieve that target.
Incoming Scania AB President and CEO, Per Hallberg, is no stranger to the company. He joined Scania in 1977 and has served on the firm's Executive Board since 2001.
Scania's new Chairman of the Board, Mr Renschler, is also a member of the Board of Management of Volkswagen AG and Head of Volkswagen Truck & Bus GmbH, the latter being the recently formed holding company that coordinates the operations in the Group's commercial vehicles companies.
