In the lead-up to Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) Annual General Meeting to be held on October 19, long-serving President Bob Martin (pictured) has announced he will retire from the HVIA board and his position as President.
In announcing his retirement Mr. Martin said: "After twelve years on the board it’s time to move over and let the next generation of directors take the lead of HVIA. It has been an absolute honour and a pleasure to lead CVIAQ (Commercial Vehicle Industry Association) and then HVIA in its inaugural year."
President Bob Martin was first elected as a director to the board of the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Q’ld in 2004 and was CVIAQ’s longest-serving President taking the helm in 2009 through to the AGM in 2015, where the CVIAQ became a national association and the HVIA was formed.
Bob has had the honour of being the last CVIAQ President and the first HVIA President. He has presided over many major challenges including the construction of the HVIA’s national office at Seventeen Mile Rocks, Queensland in 2009, the relocation of the Brisbane Truck Show to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre in 2011 and the unanimous decision of the members of CVIAQ in 2015 to transition the organisation to a national body, Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia.
Mr. Martin also paid tribute to all the directors past and present who have supported him throughout his tenure.
In closing, Mr Martin said: "The change is significant as it completes HVIA’s transition to a truly national body. HVIA is in great hands and I fully support the nomination of director Mario Colosimo of MaxiTRANS Industries to the position of President, and director Nathan Usher of Cummins South Pacific as Vice-President and look forward to seeing HVIA continue to grow and make a real difference for all sectors of the heavy vehicle industry."
