New product: Bendix brake pad app

Brake specialist Bendix has launched a new app that identifies brake pads using your own smartphone's camera
Bendix says its new ‘Bendix Brake Pad Identifier’ app utilises facial recognition technology to help truck operators positively identify their brake pads, greatly simplifying the replacement process.
The firm says the app is ideal for mechanics, brake pad fitters and spare parts specialists, and that it matches your brake pad against the comprehensive Bendix brake pad database to identify the exact model in use.
Available for both the Android and Apple smartphone platforms, the app is the product of two years of research and development.
Bendix says using the technology is simply a matter of opening the app, entering the make and model of the vehicle (if known) or the length of the brake pad, and then photographing the pad with your phone (preferably against a white background, such as an A4 sheet of paper).
The app then finds the matching pad in the online Bendix catalogue.
According to Bendix’s Marketing Services Manager, Ian Bott, the technology ushers in a new era in customer service in the brake pad industry.
“By just taking a few steps the Bendix Brake Pad Identifier will automatically identify the brake pad in your workshop, allowing an unprecedented level of customer service in speed and accuracy,” he said.
This free app is backed by Bendix technical support and is available for download now from Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
