Increasing numbers of commercial vehicle drivers are switching on the benefits of dash cams, which can make all the difference when it comes to providing proof in an insurance claim or any legal proceedings following an accident.
Navman says its MiVUE 500 series units deliver unrivalled video quality and come with a host of cutting-edge features.
Comprising three models, the MiVUE 530, MiVUE 560 and MiVUE 580, these dash cams come with GPS tracking that show the precise position and speed of your vehicle in an accident, and a six-glass lens for quality footage.
The range-topping MiVUE 580 has a Sony Exmor CMOS sensor, too, which the maker says offers excellent contrast and rich colours by day and quality footage at night and in low light conditions.
All three models record in full high definition video; the MiVUE 530 comes with a 2.4-inch LCD display while the MiVUE 560 and MiVUE 580 have 2.5-inch LCD touchscreens for easy menu navigation.
The cameras record continuously and save the footage just before, during and after any incident that trigger's the device's G-shock sensor, which also records the direction of the impact.
For added security a Parking mode allows the camera to record while your vehicle is parked up – handy in dark and expansive truck stops – while a photo mode lets the user take snapshots of the aftermath and any associated damage.
Footage from the cameras can be viewed on a PC and all three models come supplied with a flexible rotating mount. Installation is said to be as easy as positioning the camera on your windscreen and plugging it into a 12-volt auxiliary socket.
